Hey there, just a preface to this: had a great talk to Thorva in game before making this application. Hopefully you initial, monocle-popping disgust at my unsuitability for you guys can subside till the end...

Name: Iseult
Race, Class, and Main Spec: Human (for now! due to turn blue, have my limbs extended and gain pointier ears), Rogue, playing as Assassination currently.
Armory Link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet ... &cn=Iseult

What's your name and where are you from? Well Cilla, my name's Laurie and I come from Oxford, and am studying in Cardiff.

How old are you? Please give your answer in Reverse Polish Notation. Is this how you guys get your kicks? I really wondered what relevance that had to your raiding rules. 40,000 39,980 -

Or just 4 5 x

How long have you been playing WoW? What experience do you have of endgame raiding?
I've been playing WoW since European release, although that's a little misleading as I took the best part of a year to level a paladin to level 60.

As far as raiding goes, before TBC I cleared up to 4 horsemen in Naxxramas, undone by our warriors' lack of dreadnaught pieces, in TBC I cleared Hyjal and BT before nerfs and attunement revamps, and have cleared up to Mu'ru in Sunwell, and in WOTLK have cleared everything up to Ulduar including Sartharion with his 3 buddies.

BUT WAIT!!! I hear you audibly cry, WHERE'S THE REST OF YOUR EXPERIENCE?

I've been on a break since about October of last year, have just returned to playing this past week or so. I've been through TotC 25-man since then, but have yet to step into ICC. I have, however, spent my time 'not playing WoW' watching endless videos of the place, and have on a few occasions watched over a friend's shoulder as he raided it. As I explained to Thorva, my current server is possible the No. 1 Realm In Support of Gearscore, and I can't get near a pug to ToTC, let alone ICC, without a 5.2k+ gear score.

Is this your main? How often do you play this character? Tell us about your other characters, including any serious alts.

What's your complete guild history, on this realm as well as any other? Why did you leave / are you leaving your current or previous guild? None on Defias Brotherhood, or Darksorrow. Iseult was born as the GM of a reroll project called Anastasis, which lasted until just before my break and rerolled in Summer '08. Before then it gets foggy, I played a paladin originally, first in First Blood on Talnivarr EU, and later in DB's own Crimson Gauntlet (after rolling with The Shining Strand here as Karlkhaz, an officer). That's about all I can remember.

Provide the names of some people we can get in touch with in-game as references. Please note that references are required: give names of characters on other realms, if necessary. If you know anyone on the Path, either in-game or IRL, mention that here also. I have very few people I could direct you to, and most of them are out of WoW currently. My underlings in Anastasis could talk to you, if needed I can provide a few MSN addresses at best. Otherwise my personal Tutor?

What is your role in raids? How do you judge whether you're doing a good job or not? Primarily DPS. I do a good job if I end the fight alive and the thing that was trying to kill me is dead/saved/planning reincarnation after a 'setback'. On top of that, the more DPS I do is generally indicative of a better performance. More specifically though this relies on avoiding nasty things (and keeping the healers onside), not missing opportunities to stab the boss or his underlings, not failing on a specific role I'm given.

Within my roguey role as well come rather specialist things such as the odd misdirect if asked for, otherwise boosting another DPSer's (preferentially another rogue's, to keep things incestuous) DPS with tricks. Also duties like interrupting casts, applying certain poisons or light comic relief.

Describe your choice of spec, how you came to your current build, and any other things you feel we should know about why you spent your talent points the way you did. Currently specced as Assassination, as I believe it gives me better DPS at my current, pitiful gear level. It's also more fun to play in my opinion. My current spec comes as a combination of researching and personal playstyle: 2 points in relentless strikes, for example, as I've read that the points are better spent elsewhere, but 2 in fleet footed rather than quick recovery as I don't miss finishers with as much hit as I have, and I don't rely on getting healed, compared to an increased movement speed which is very useful indeed.

Where do you go to read about your class outside of the game?
A few places, primarily Shadowpanther for gear choice and ElitistJerks to capitalise from other people's theorycrafting. I also check the WoW official forums from time to time. And the WoW community site. It's very useful, though I'm not sure where all the Dwarf mages are.

Please provide the following (you may link them or attach them directly to your post). For both, you may capture either a 10- or 25-player raid, and VoA is perfectly acceptable.

• a screenshot of your UI during raid boss combat; and
• a log parse from a 10- or 25-player raid boss encounter using worldoflogs.com or similar.

I'm afraid I'll have to add these tomorrow or even later, I didn't anticipate this question and have neither prepared. I hope that's OK.

Roleplaying Section: End your application with a short in-character biography, a note from your character to the officers, or other RP story or RP statement about yourself. Effort is much more appreciated than length or content, and your application will not be considered without it.

(Relying on my rogue becoming a male troll, with a name of choice)

Girt was born the youngest of a large brood of Trolls. From his early days he was workshy and, as his parents put it, 'As insolent as the bloody day is long'. It's no surprise then that Girt got into Voodoo in a big way.

As a young Troll Girt found an escape in the shadowy arts of the Voodoo. He also found plenty of opportunity to try out his improvised Hookah, with a headpiece carved from the skull of an unfortunate gnome. He became so embroiled, no matter how passively, in the dark art that he found himself initiated into Zalazane's inner cult, soon after the Troll's repatriation to the Echo Isles. Either due to the effects of whatever he was smoking, or Zalazane's mind controlling-magic, Girt found himself on the Echo isles and away from his family in Sen'Jin. After a recent raid, a childhood friend, now known as Vol'Thraze, freed him from his curse (or psychadelic haze, no-one is sure) and returned him home. Scolded by parents and friends alike, Girt vowed to never be lead astray again: he would train under the Shadow Hunters and become one of them, a silent, deadly and uncompromising assassin. With a small drug problem.

To this day Girt has not earned his full name: despite his zeal in training he's yet to taste real battle. Despite embracing the Voodoo now, in his new profession, Girt still fears its dark and strange power, and has for some time sought light in his life.

Before you likes a fine piece of parchment. On it's folded edge, a seal depicting a Troll's tusks intercrossed with a large blade.

To whom it may concern,

My name is Girt. I've heard of your Luminous Path, brother, and I want to learn more. I've had visions, and not the kind I can blame on late nights and what I may or may not have been smoking. I've seen a road, stretching on beyond sight, twisting and turning, reaching into darkness. I hear you understand such visions.

Please, reply to me as soon as you can, and hopefully I can meet with you,
May light keep you from the shadows,
Girt.

Additional notes. Optionally, mention anything else you'd like us to know about your application. Nothing to add other than what I have written before the application. I look forward to any reply I might get *gulp* and hopefully, I'll be seeing you soon.

THÓRVA SAYS: I blew this up, but I put it back together, so amy coloring mistakes are mine.

Ack, and already, I've spotted a mistake.

I missed out:

Is this your main? How often do you play this character? Tell us about your other characters, including any serious alts.

This is my main character, and has been for some years. I have a protection paladin and a holy priest skulking about on different servers: the former I raided with a for a little time with Ulduar but nothing beyond that.

Also, thrilled to see a rogue aware of the utility they bring other than just deeps. Attach a UI screenshot and a raid log (like it says, even something like VoA 10 is okay, but the closer to ICC 25 the better) when you can get one. Also, I'll tell you and anyone else reading this a little secret: there's an explanation of RPN in the general information forum, and we put that there to see who has and hasn't read up before applying. Devious!

I saw the explanation, but where the flying fudge would you use it?!

And yes, log and SS incoming tomorrow if all bodes well.

At the risk of pulling a serious Mohammed Atta on this thread, RPN is useful because you don't have to bother with parentheses or remember the order of operations, you just deal with the operators as they come.

(Also yes I did just make a 9/11 joke in an application thread. What're ya gonna do, gkick me?)

http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/xt7kf34k5ntc414b/ - log from an Ulduar pug today, running just for the weekly quest.

My UI is below also: It's based very strongly on LUI, a great little package, with a few extra bits and pieces installed to make my life easier.

Thumbs up for trollness!

Your application is well written and informative. Tho I can't worry too much about the gear and experience issue if you allow me to be honest. Our main goal is at the moment downing Lich King in ICC-10, and like you understand, we can use you in that encounter (yet) if you get accepted with your current gear.
So, could you tell me bit more about your gearing up plan (including enchanting and gemming of your gear).

My gearing plan is basically to aim for upgrades from ICC 10 in the long term. In the short term, there's not an awful lot that will help me out outside of ICC or endless TotC runs. I'm running FoS every day for the Scorpion Trinket, trying to scrape enough badges together for the Frost cloak (enchanting with Agility as soon as the bugger appears). Other than that immediate upgrades are my neck and weapons, I think, and as far as I make out there's nothing really for me again outside of ToTC 25 or ICC. I'm running the former as often as I physically can, getting as many frosties from doing the daily heroic and weekly raid quests, and keeping on top of enchants and gems (the only thing I can 100% control, I guess).

As far as strategy goes for gemming/enchanting, am soon going to switch to gemming for Pure AP, with one semi-haste gem and a nightmare pearl to make the meta gem work. Enchants are quite easy, aiming for ap/agi over hit or anything else as I can afford to lose some.

That UI looks like it's stolen from World of Starcraft!
