Name:
Lienori Dawnborn

Race, Class, and Main Spec:
Blood Elf Rogue, Subtlety spece

Armory Link:

What's your name and where are you from?
My name's Russell, and I'm based in Portsmouth, England.

How old are you? Please express your answer in Reverse Polish Notation.
15 15 + ... I think (I'm 30).

How long have you been playing WoW? What experience do you have of endgame raiding?
I played WoW when it first came out, but I stopped playing around the time BC was released. I was a social player, and did no raiding. I came back to wow a short time ago (about 17 days played since returning), and have done no raiding yet - which is what I would like to get into.

Is this your main? How often do you play this character? Tell us about your other characters, including any serious alts.
This is indeed my main character; I do not alt, so all time is invested here.

What's your complete guild history, on this realm as well as any other? Why did you leave / are you leaving your current or previous guild?
When I returned, I joined Sin Belore, which is a BE military RP guild. A great bunch of people, and I will miss them - I simply wish to begin raiding, which is something I did not anticipate when I joined them.

Provide the names of some people we can get in touch with in-game as references. Please note that references are required: give names of characters on other realms, if necessary. If you know anyone on the Path, either in-game or IRL, mention that here also.
While I have not socialised too much, people who could be mentioned are:

Amarin
Shenk/Pindleskin
Emrys

What is your role in raids? How do you judge whether you're doing a good job or not?
With no raid experience, I can only rate my performance in groups or old raids. In these cases, I generally look at Recount, and check that I'm still alive. ;)

Describe your choice of spec, how you came to your current build, and any other things you feel we should know about why you spent your talent points the way you did.
My spec is currently Subtlety, which is probably the least-used PvE spec. My reasons are that it is fast-paced, and excellent single-target damage. I've investigated my spec quite well (I think), and now also have a Sub guide in the EU Rogue forum.

Where do you go to read about your class outside of the game?
Generally EJ, or the EU forums. Shadowcraft is a useful tool, but one doesn't generally read much there.

Please provide a screenshot of your UI during raid boss or dungeon boss combat.
I don't have any of combat against a raid boss (it looks exactly the same as this), but I am happy to grab one from a dungeon boss if that is acceptable.

Roleplaying Section: End your application with a short in-character biography, a note from your character to the officers, or other RP story or RP statement about yourself. Effort is much more appreciated than length or content, and your application will not be considered without it.
While the years of war and turmoil have been harsh for all, Lienori has surprisingly come away with both his parents and health intact. Keener with a dagger than the arcane arts, he has spent much of his free time honing his skills and talents. With Lienori's age reaching that of a more responsible adult, and his parents moving out on an expedition, he feels that now is a good time to more actively take the fight to the enemy.

While many share hatred and anger for the scourge that has spread across the land, he is a calm and calculated citizen of Silvermoon. His goal is merely to neutralise any threat to the sin'dorei - be that foreign or domestic.

Additional notes. Optionally, mention anything else you'd like us to know about your application.
I can't think of anything else, other than I'm looking for a decent group of people that I can have some fun with - and raid with!

Greetings Lienori!

Just a few questions, you mentioned:

What sort of numbers are we talking about DPS wise, let's say against your typical ZA/ZG boss or one of those Baradin Hold bosses.

You mentioned you have no raiding experience, presumingly you have done some background reading into raiding before you applied, checking out the fights, looking at progress and what not. What is it in particular which draws you to apply to this guild and how much do you feel you can contribute to the current progression level?

You mentioned Subtly is the least used spec in comparison to combat and assassination. Why do you feel this is the case and what are the pro's and con's of having subtly in comparison to these others? Are there particular fights which would give subtly the upperhand ?

Perhaps if you want to start raiding, you should join a guild that is less advanced then us.

Hi there. :)

With my current grear I currently get around 22-25; I've had 28 once, but I think the random number Gods were just having a good day.

Indeed I have, although I've left in depth mechanics to the few days before any raid, that way it's fresher in my mind, and not muddled with others. I'm interested mostly because of the challenge, because the content I'm currently in is not challenging at all. Other than DPS and being a nice/dependable person, I am not sure what I can bring to the table

Subtlety is probably the least-used spec due to its rotation complexity; it also lags a little behind as and combat in multi-mob damage. In a tank and spank, sub should come up on top; mob mechanics may cause this not to be the case. If so, I am willing to shift my secondary tree from sub/PvP to Combat.

Indeed, and you are probably right. It's a little tricky finding Guilds that advertise themselves as "raiding, but not that great yet", so I'm just doing what I can in looking. I'll obviously understand if I'm not the kind of person you're looking for.

I think what Bob is intending to ask is what your reasoning is for applying to a guild that is currently 6/7 Hardmode Firelands and working on Ragnaros, while having no raiding experience of your own.

My application was more along the assumption that there was a 'B-Team', or a couple of other groups that were perhaps not focused on HC FL raids. I based that on the recruitment post, which didn't specify a spot or two, but recruitment of all classes.

It would of course be stupid and arrogant for someone like me to expect to start hitting the toughest raids.

BoB, you're so blunt >.< But...you're Dutch so I forgive you, you're still my second favorite mage! But yeah, I think I can see what went wrong here. I guess by recruiting like we do, we assume people look us up or take the '6/7' hc as some kind of 'only apply when you're ready to jump in' sign.
While that might be the case and intention, I don't think it came across very clearly and we'll work on fixing that! If any of our replies offended you, we're sorry, we don't mean to be harsh. Your app is very well written and you come across as an excellent guy. It's just that, in order to grab a much-coveted raid spot, it's pretty much a cold hard requirement to be able to jump into Firelands Heroic with all the necessary gear, skill and experience needed to execute the tactics flawlessly.

Meanwhile, we do run a 'B-team' or what we call alt-raid on <unspecified day of the week, still being picked> for people with lesser gear, people who lost out on the main raid or... well...alts xD I'm not sure that's what you're after though, since it seems you're interested in raiding full-time at appropriate level.

I look forward to your take on all this and if you'd still be willing to push forward with this app, change it to social (yes, that's an option!) or make me a sad panda and withdraw it.

Regards, Sav 8-)

Hey again. ^^

No offence was taken at all. While the social side sounds like it would be fun, I wouldn't want to join, hang around and get to know people, only to then decide that I should look elsewhere for raiding options. Not that I'm in a rush, but still.

What I might do is post on the server forum, and see if there are any non-HC raiding guilds recruiting. It's probably better than asking 50 different guilds. ;)

Thank you for your time, however; good luck in your raids!

Hmmmz...

So. if i had to choose from a guy that has done everything and "knows" the fights and a guy that doesnt know the fights and ... barely ever raided. id choose the second.

Why? simply put. a guy that "knows" what hes doing is less likely to relearn and adjust then a new guy is willing to learn.

Russell here could be say a ... uncut diamond in a mountain full of cut decoration rubies...
a shark that never swum in a sea with full with tunas.
everyones a newbie at one point. but rather a newbie then a noob.

what i mean is. this guy you can teach to be a AWESOME raider. sort of like me. instead of getting a rogue that says "I REFUSE TO KICK THAT IS THE SHAMANS JOB, ILL REROLL HUNTER"...
(thats a joke towards a guildie, no harm meant ;P ) but you get my point i hope.

Have no fear. Jiander aint here. (for now mohahahahaAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)
